2015 SATY Awards nominees revealed

Africa News Network (ANN7) has announced the final list for the ANN7 South African of the Year (SATY) 2015 awards.

SATY seeks to celebrate extraordinary South Africans. The announcement was made today and sees more than 63 personalities and organisations vying for top spot in nine categories. AKA, Cassper Nyovest, Terry Pheto, Nomzamo Mbatha, Nandi Mngoma and Jonathan Boyton-Lee fight it out in the trend setting celebrity of the year award category, while AB de Villiers, Duane Vermeulen, Gift Kelehe, Janine van Wyk, Schalk Burger, Tefu Mashamaite, and Teko Modise slug it out in the sports category.

DJ Sbu’s latest venture, MoFaya energy drink was nominated in the Campaign of the year category, and his foundation SLEF made it in the Spirit of Humanity category.

Bonang Matheba will have to fend off competition from Brian Molefe, Ephraim Shakes Mashaba, Imtiaz Sooliman, Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma, Rolene Strauss and Prof Salim S Abdool Karim for the South African of the Year award – won by public protector Thuli Madonsela last year.

The winners will be announced at a glittering award ceremony at the Ticketpro Dome on October 17. AKA, The Soil, and Chiano Sky play alongside a global act yet to be confirmed.
